Title: Where is Magic Johnson today

For many Magic Johnson is known as the former basketball player for the LA Lakers basketball team, but his career ended a while ago so what’s he up to now?

Since Magic Johnson left the game of basketball a lot of things have been happening in his life. The Magic Johnson aids story broke out in 91 when he told the world he did in fact have aids. However despite the negative news of having aids a lot of positives have happened in Magic Johnson’s life since basketball.  He established himself as an entrepreneur and a pretty damn good one at that.
Magic Johnson’s net worth is currently at $500 million and here are some of the reasons why. Being the great entrepreneur that he is Magic runs his own company called Magic Johnson enterprises along with being a co-owner of the LA Dodgers who are one of the two baseball teams in the city.  Magic Johnson also purchased co-ownership the LA Sparks which are the LA basketball team for the WNBA, and he’s announced that he will have co-ownership of the new expansion LA soccer team that will be introduced next season. Safe to say that Magic Johnson has been balling off the basketball court as much as he did while he was on the court.

Did you ever think after getting diagnosed with aids Magic would be in the position he is today?

Title: How to avoid going bankrupt

Want to hear something crazy? 78% of NFL players go bankrupt or having financial troubles 2 years after retirement, and 60% of NBA players go broke 5 years after retirement.

Athlete bankruptcy is something that has been happening for quite sometime, but its kept quiet and brushed under the rug for obvious reasons. How and why do pro athletes go broke, the top ten broke athletes, or most broke athletes it doesn’t really matter how you type it out the fact is that you’ll find a ton of information on athletes that are broke and what caused them to get there. It doesn’t really matter how they got there because that’s a different topic for a different day, what matters is not making the same mistake these professional athletes have made. If an Allen Iverson, or Vince Young who have made multiple millions of dollars over their careers can go bankrupt then so can an average person like you. Athlete wealth management is not something that was on the top of these pro athletes list of things to do, but it should have been. The number one reason that most athletes go broke is because they are financially reckless with their spending, and they’re also uneducated about their finances. The one tip that can be given and taken away from this blog is to management your money and finances wisely. Allen Iverson made over $200 million dollars over his NBA career and never once opened a savings account, or some type of trust fund if you were wondering where he is today…he’s broke.

If it can happen to millions like them, don’t you think it can happen to you?

Title: Reasons why Allen Iverson went bankrupt.

Allen Iverson, where is Allen Iverson now? If you can believe it one of the greatest players to ever play the game of basketball is jobless and bankrupt.

Allen Iverson’s latest news is not what your typical fan of the guy is used to hearing. Not too long ago Allen Iverson was on the news for numerous reasons, but nothing like a filing of bankruptcy. It used to be Allen Iverson crossovers, Allen Iverson shoes, or the notoriously known Allen Iverson practice press conference that went viral immediately after concluding. He was the face of a generation and was on top of the world, and suddenly it all came crashing down. Allen Iverson made over $200 million in his 15-year career and now he’s struggling to afford a McChicken from McDonalds. Here are the reasons why Allen Iverson went broke:

1.    Financially reckless- Allen Iverson would travel everywhere with a 50 man entourage and pay for all of them and buy them lavish gifts such as, jewelry, cars, houses etc. His expenses AFTER filing for bankruptcy totaled over $30,000 a month.
2.    Obsessive Gambling- Iverson blew over $1 million in an Atlantic City Casino on several occasions until he was banned due to unpaid debts.
3.    Nasty Divorce- Iverson went through a divorce with his ex wife where she demanded alimony and child support for their 5 children. During the filing Iverson revealed that he made $62,500 a month but spent a total of $360,000.
4.    No Investments- Of all that $200 million Allen never once had a savings account, trust fund, or invested into anything for his future.

Did you ever think it was possible to make $200 million dollars and end up broke and living on rock bottom? Who would of thought?

What is drug abuse?

Title:  What is drug abuse? – How retired athletes may turn to drugs

Lead Paragraph:

Can you believe it?  Almost anyone can turn to drugs. But what is drug abuse? Drug abuse also known as substance abuse is when an individual consume drugs and becomes an addiction. Drugs change the brain in ways that foster compulsive drug abuse, quitting is difficult, even for those who are ready to do so.

Body:
The causes of drug abuse can go on, but it is rare you will find athletes who will jeopardize their playing career to do drugs and there are retired athletes who may turn to it. Especially after an athletes career is over, they may find ways to keep themselves occupied with the money they have or get involved with people who do.

Like Daryl Strawberry, a former American MLB player was addicted to drug and alcohol abuse. He struggled with substance abuse during his playing career as well as after retiring. Any person and professional athlete should know, there are consequences of drug abuse. But why risk it all, right?  Also gambling can turn one into doing drug abuse, because you’re gambling away with your money.

It’s unfortunate that retired athletes may turn to drugs but sometimes they can be so far into it, it’s hard to get out of. With rehab and support from family/friends, they can slowly overcome it getting the help they need.

End With Open-Ended Question:
What do you think about athletes or retired athletes doing substance abuse?
