Blog 1: Story Telling Michael Jordan
Life after retirement
Whether you’re a sports fan or not
chances are you know who Michael Jordan is. There are just some names that
everyone knows regardless of whether or not they’re sports fans. Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Gretzky, David Beckham,
and Michael Jordan also falls under this category.
For
those that don’t know Michael Jordan he is regarded as the greatest basketball
player to ever play the game. He played his college basketball for the
university of North Carolina for 3 years, after his 3rd year
finished he entered into the NBA draft and was selected by the Chicago Bulls 3rd
overall in 1984. Jordan went on to play 15 seasons in the NBA winning 6
championships while holding multiple records, but forget all that this is where
it gets good.
Michael
Jordan is now 51 years old and makes more money now then when we was playing in
the NBA. At 51 years old Michael Jordan is currently the owner of the Charlotte
Hornets, and has a huge endorsement shoe deal with Nike he has his own brand
called Jordan, but I’m sure most of you already knew that. His net worth is an
estimated $1 billion dollars, and his annual earnings range from $90-100
million dollars. What’s amazing about all of this is that Jordan was virtually
on his way to being dead broke after Michael Jordan went through a divorce with
his former partner Juanita Jordan in 2002, Jordan was ordered to pay a
settlement of an estimated $168 million dollars all was said and done. Some say
that only reason Jordan survived that was his Nike shoe deal, or else he
wouldn’t have made it. Regardless of what could or should have happened Michael
Jordan has found a way to make his retirement years even more successful then
his playing career, and considering how a lot of pro athletes fail and fall
after they retire I’d say Michael Jordan is doing pretty good for himself.
How do you plan on living your life
after retirement?
